                      SEND Information 2024-2025

Welcome to our SEND information page which is also part of the Norfolk Local Offer for Learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

At Nelson Academy, we embrace the fact that every child is unique, and, therefore, the educational needs of every child is different; this is certainly the case for children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities.

At Nelson Academy, we strongly believe that:

All children should be valued regardless of their abilities and behaviours.

All children are entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum which is matched to meet each individual’s needs.

All teachers are teachers of children with special educational needs.

All children can learn and make progress.

Effective assessment and provision for children with SEND will be secured in partnership with parents, children, the LA and other partners.

Our SEND team is made up of teaching assistants who support children in class; we also very lucky to have Mrs May, our Speech and Language Higher Level Teaching Assistant, and Miss Kenny our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo).

We are fortunate  to have an ASD SRB attached to our school. Here a team of 3 adults (Miss Leach - SRB Lead and 2 Teaching Assistants) support up to 12 children both in the main school and, when required in a smaller environment offering specialised support.

If you would like further information on our SEND support please contact:
