A successful and popular event to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.
Friday 29th September was the MacMillan Coffee Morning, a huge fundraising event to raise money to support MacMillan’s vital work. Nelson Academy got involved, as we always do, and managed to raise a whopping £472.87, by selling amazing cakes, muffins, brownies and savoury treats to the Nelson Community. All cakes and treats were donated by parents and staff and the coffee morning was held in our new outdoor classroom. Lucky for us, the sun was shining brightly, which made for a wonderful morning.
There was a huge raffle with some amazing prizes. Lots of local businesses and parents donated great prizes including vouchers, gift sets, tasty treats and more! There were so many winners and so much money raised from this.
The event at Nelson Academy was organised by Sam Jeffries and Kelly Clarke, and they had lots of help from Ligita Wilson, Karla Short and Julie Crane. A massive thank you to these amazing people, who did such a wonderful job and to all the parents and children who made and bought cakes to help support this charity. The money raised will help MacMillan fund their amazing nurses, answer calls on their Support Line, give financial support and more.
